Event Management and Planning Intern

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Organization: Prestige School of Protocol

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Precious Jewel, Owner of Prestige School of Protocol

STATUS: College Internship (unpaid)

HOURS: 10 hours a week  

LOCATION: Virtual. Interns will meet with supervisor in person during our first official meeting of business and for upcoming events. Interns may perform other weekly assignments wherever they please.

During: Fall 2023 semester OR fall 2023 and spring 2024 semester

For fall semester internship only, the position will start September 4, 2023 to December 1, 2023. 

POSITION PURPOSE: The purpose of the Events Management and Planning Intern position is to assist with the planning, logistics and implementation of Prestige School of Protocol’s public and special events. This will include working with vendors, sponsors, and participants and parents of our Princess Tiara Fashion Show and Etiquette Tea. Interns will also research and identify local organizations, facilitate communication, and plan and assist with day of event management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Organization and logistical support for our Princess Tiara Fashion Show and Etiquette Tea.
  • Research, strategize, and identify local organizations, donors, and sponsors.
  • Facilitate communication between us and parents of our participants.
  • Identify potential appearances for our two-princess tiara fashion show winners and royal court.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To be successful, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Candidates should be a collegiate student with major coursework towards a degree in Hospitality Management, Event planning, or Marketing and Communications, etc. Candidates who have any interest in working with children in the future are also encouraged to apply. Candidates will be asked to research and assist with our big event.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Great communication skills and possess the ability and confidence to speak with parents
  • Excellent research, writing, and customer service skills
  • Some artistic and design experience helpful, but not required
  • Some marketing and social media experience helpful, but not required
  • Ability to work independently

TIME COMMITMENTS:

Interns are responsible for completing the required number of hours set forth by their college or university to receive college credit. Interns seeking degree enrichment (not for credit) should complete 10 hours per week during the semester for completion of the program.
